Paul Lapsley

5th Dan

Paul Lapsley started training in Karate when he was eight years old. He began entering competiton at the age of twelve and won a number of medals in Kobe Osaka and National Championships. In 1993 Paul had a serious hand injury at work and in 1995 had a tumour removed from his abdomen. However he didn't let that get in his way and continued training and competing.

Paul is a full time karate Instructor and runs a number of dojos. In addition;

He entered 15 Scottish Karate Championships and never placed lower than 4th, placing 4th three times, 3rd 10 times, 2nd four times and 1st once.
He has been part of the Kobe-Osaka Kata team to win the Scottish Championships twice.
He has competed in the Kobe Osaka International Kata Championships 12 times gaining 4 bronze medals, two 3rd places and in 2011 took 1st place in the Kata
He has competed in the Kobe Osaka International Team Kata and placed 3rd and 2nd twice.
He has competed in the Kobe Osaka International Kumite Championships and placed in the top ten.
He has competed in the KO Dutch open in the Netherlands and winning 3rd and 1st place.
He has competed in the Latina Games and has been placed 3rd twice in the Kata and place 2nd in the Team Kumite.
He entered 2 European Championships.
He helped Sensei Steve coach the Saudi Arabian National team in 2006.
Scottish International Open male senior +35 Kata took 1st place 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013
British Championship male senior +35 Kata took 1st 2009, 2010. 2012 and 2013
British International Open 2nd Kata 2006. 1st 2012 and 2013

Paul holds a recognised 5th Dan with Kobe Osaka International and ratified by the Scottish Karate Governing Body. He has attended a number of sports courses on anatomy, physiology, psychology, biomechanics, nutrition and safe exercise procedures as well as the Sports UK Courses, coaching courses laid out by the SKGB.

He is a fully qualified Karate instructor and coach with Kobe Osaka International, and coach approved by the Scottish Karate Governing Body and B.A.W.L.A. (British Amateur Weight Lifters Association) Gym instructor.

His students have won the Scottish Championships and numerous medals in other national and international championships.

He has assisted Sensei Tommy Morris and Sensei Steven in a number of national courses and international events. Paul holds a Kobe Osaka Instructor and Judge A (in Kata and Kumite) qualification.

Paul is also a keen actor and fight choreography and through martial arts, his career has also extended to television, stunts and Films.
